The purpose of New
Home Development
Company, Inc. is to
increase access to
safe, decent, and
affordable housing
for adults with
special mental
health needs and/or
limited incomes
through the
development,
construction,
renovation, and
management of
housing units.

Community Residence
New Home Development currently owns and
manages a number of housing units throughout Defiance, Henry,
Fulton, and Williams Counties. These units were obtained
with grants from the Ohio Department of Mental Health, the Ohio
Department of Development, and HUD.
NHDC offers these units to qualifying individuals at a rate of 30% to
35% of their income. Utilities may be included, and persons with no
income are still eligible for independent housing services.
An outstanding example of the Community Residence Program is Horizon
Apartments. Owned and operated by NHDC, Horizon Apartments
includes ten one-bedroom apartments. Support staff is available on-site, 24 hours a day.
Constructed in 1997 and located in Bryan, Ohio, this project has
demonstrated much tenure and success for its residents in the community. Horizon
Apartments offer independent
living, tenants are free to come
& go as they please. This is not
a structured living alternative
and is not considered supported
housing.
